Executive Summary

Ginger relieves severity of nausea, vomiting in pregnant women, Teraporn Vutyanich, MD, et al., Chiang Mai University, Thailand, report in April Obstetrics & Gynecology. Double-blind, parallel study randomized 67 women into two arms, with active group receiving ginger 250 mg four times a day for four days while on a low-fat, high-carbohydrate diet. Twenty-eight of 32 (87.5%) in ginger group reported reduced symptoms, compared to 10 of 35 in placebo arm, Vutyanich et al. find. No serious adverse events were detected among women or their babies
