Sunscreen monograph effective date delay

FDA plans to publish notice further delaying effective date for sunscreen final monograph by the end of December, agency says in a recently-released meeting memorandum. The current compliance date is Dec. 31, 2002. During an Oct. 29 meeting with CTFA, the agency said it plans to postpone effective date and consider a number of issues raised by the association, memo notes. CTFA requested: elimination of limits on SPF claims; elimination of restrictions on anti-aging claims for sunscreens; broader selection of approved uses and directions; and relief from some labeling requirements for all sunscreens, skin protectants and antiperspirants...
