Canada Consults On Changes To Equivalence Framework For Generic Drugs

Health Canada has proposed changes to its generics drug framework to make a clear distinction between products that are “pharmaceutical equivalents” and “pharmaceutical alternatives” to the reference product but can still be regarded as “therapeutically equivalent”. It has also proposed altering the stage at which it determines “sameness” between a generic drug product and its reference product.
