IFPMA confirms new president

Haruo Naito has been confirmed as the new president of the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Associations. Mr Naito, who is the president and chief executive of Eisai, will hold the post until the next IFPMA assembly in autumn 2010. He replaces Fred Hassan, chairman and chief executive of Schering-Plough, who stepped down as IFPMA president on completion of his company’s merger with Merck & Co. Lamberto Andreotti, president and chief operating officer of Bristol-Myers Squibb, will take over Mr Naito’s previous position as vice president.
