Russia updates list of prescription, state-paid medicines

Executive Summary
The Russian ministry of health has updated the register of medicines available to patients free of charge, removing obsolete, high-risk medicines and adding a few new products. The updated list will enter into force in January 2009, however, in order to secure an uninterrupted supply of medicines from the list, regional healthcare authorities will commence tendering process this autumn. For purchasing purposes, a sum of RUB12.2bn (€330.7m) has been set aside in the country’s budget.
