Executive Summary
McNeil Consumer Healthcare recalls 57 lots of Children's and Infants' Tylenol liquid products due to possible bacterial contamination detected in testing of bulk raw material performed after the products were shipped. The Johnson & Johnson subsidiary said Sept. 24 a portion of the supply of one of the products' inactive ingredients not used during manufacturing between April 2008 and June 2008 "did not meet internal testing requirements," although the acetaminophen products now on recall "met all specifications" before being shipped to retailers. According to a statement, Fort Washington, Pa.-based McNeil consulted with FDA and agreed to a voluntary recall at the warehouse and retail levels even though "the likelihood of a serious medical event is remote." The recalled products include select lots of Children's and Infants' Tylenol liquid and do not include the Meltaways delivery form, McNeil said. A full list appears on McNeil's 1Web site
