Executive Summary
The Center for Science in the Public Interest says dietary supplement good manufacturing practices are not enough to ensure supplements are safe and effective because quality control measures are left up to companies. The consumer advocacy group also asserts the regulation will not "address whether the products carry adequate directions for use and appropriate warnings." FDA posted the long-awaited GMPs for advanced display on the Federal Register June 22 (1"The Tan Sheet" June 25, 2007, p. 3). While firms must retain all records of adverse events FDA will only investigate high-risk firms and "given FDA's limited resources that may be as infrequently as once every 5 or 10 years," CSPI says...
