Executive Summary
Vi-Jon Laboratories will remove claims its foaming hand soap can "compare to" Dial Complete antibacterial foaming hand soap in a settlement with Dial Corp. Results of clinical hand wash tests an independent lab conducted for Dial revealed the Vi-Jon product, positioned as a Dial Complete generic, is "less than one-tenth as effective in killing germs," according to Feb. 20 release from Dial. Other tests indicated Vi-Jon's products contained "significantly lower" levels of active ingredient triclosan than Dial Complete. Under the settlement, Vi-Jon will not make efficacy or "compare to Dial Complete" claims without testing supporting such claims, Dial says. Other terms were not disclosed.
