Executive Summary
A vote to approve the nomination of Alex Azar as HHS Deputy Secretary passed the Senate Finance Committee unanimously July 20. Azar has served as HHS General Counsel since June 2001. Also unanimously approved by the committee were Charles Johnson, nominated as HHS Assistant Secretary for Budget, Technology & Finance and Suzanne DeFrancis for Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs.
