FDA is granting a 60-day comment period for interested groups to weigh in on the collection of information to substantiate health claims based on "authoritative statements of scientific bodies of the U.S. government," according to an April 8 Federal Register notice. Comments should address "the accuracy of FDA's estimate of the burden of the proposed collection of information, including the validity of the methodology and assumptions used"; suggestions for improving the quality and quantity of information submitted; methods to minimize the burden of information collection; and whether collection of information is practical and useful.
