Executive Summary

Single doses of ibuprofen (4-10 mg/kg) and acetaminophen (7-15 mg/kg) have similar efficacy in treating moderate to severe pain in children under 18 years of age and similar safety as analgesics or antipyretics, study published in the June Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine finds. However, ibuprofen (5-10 mg/kg) reduced temperature more effectively than acetaminophen (10-15 mg/kg) at 2, 4 and 6 hours after treatment, the researchers report.
