She joins NIH office from Penn State, where she was professor in the Department of Nutrition, Graduate Program in Nutrition and Integrated Graduate Program in Biosciences. Her research has focused on dietary requirements for iron, folate and selenium, and bioavailability of these nutrients in pregnant women and children
