Executive Summary
Pain Relieving Patch line extension will begin appearing on drugstore shelves nationwide in the first quarter of 2001. The 4" x 5.5" pads will be available in six-count boxes for about $5.99, according to Springfield, Mass.-based W.F. Young. The patches use a "hydro-gel encapsulated technology" and contain menthol, eucalyptus and camphor; they will be positioned as more flexible and larger than their competitors, although they can be trimmed to smaller sizes. TV and radio spots by Van Winkle & Associates (Atlanta) will coincide with the launch and run throughout the year. Professional and consumer sampling efforts also are planned. Future extensions of the patch and recently launched Absorbine Bug Block are likely, firm says (1"The Tan Sheet" June 19, p. 5)
