Executive Summary
Alpha tocopherol counteracts bone loss associated with estrogen deficiency, S.J. Wimalawansa, et al., University of Texas at Galveston, report in a poster presented at the Chicago osteoporosis meeting. The researchers found ovariectomy-induced loss of bone mineral density in rats was prevented by tocopherol (50 IU per kg, once a week), as well as by treatment with estrogen, or by combination treatment. Femur weight was significantly higher in alpha-tocopherol-treated versus placebo-treated rats
