In an editorial in the Dec. 11 Lancet, Edzard Ernst, University of Exeter, England, stresses the need for further safety data on hypericum since the herb may reduce serum concentrations of digoxin and interact with serotonin reuptake inhibitors. He adds physicians should encourage their patients to tell them when they are using herbal therapies
