Executive Summary
FDA informational document, "Mercury Compounds in Drugs and Foods," lists and analyzes mercury compounds intentionally introduced into drug and food products. The agency requested data on such products in December and April ("The Tan Sheet" Dec. 21, 1998, p. 17). FDA received information on 16 OTC products containing mercury compounds as inactive ingredients, including 14 nasal sprays/drops and two ophthalmic products. A total of 41 responses were received; FDA also reviewed information in its Drug Registration and Listing System as well as other sources to identify additional products. The agency received no data on dietary supplements
