Executive Summary
FDA's newly created Outreach & Information Center will open a toll-free number consumers can call for information concerning food safety as well as dietary supplements, food additives and cosmetics starting Sept. 14. The new line, 1-888-SAFEFOOD, is replacing FDA's previous food and cosmetics lines. The program is being managed by the Office of Constituent Operations and the Office of Cosmetics & Colors. Ten information specialists will be taking calls in three hour shifts, while five technical experts will be available for consultation on the question line
