Executive Summary

New three-product glucosamine line under the Nature's Way FlexMax brand was expected to be on health food store shelves by the end of July. The products began shipping in June. Glucosamine Sulfate, Glucosamine with MSM and Glucosamine Hydrochloride tablets all feature "Stomach Guard" technology to protect against stomach irritation. Claimed on labeling to be "ideal for hands, wrists, knees, back, neck, elbows, hips and ankles," the products are available in 80-count bottles with a suggested retail price of $18.99. The Springville, Utah-based supplement marketer also is introducing an eight-product line of organic herbs. The "100% organically grown and processed, 100% vegetarian whole herbs" were shipped to distributors July 20. Single-ingredient, 100-count bottles of organic echinacea, feverfew, garlic, ginseng, kava, saw palmetto, St. John's wort and valerian carry suggested retail prices from $4.50 to $7.50.
