Diflucan DTC ad

This article was originally published in The Tan Sheet

Executive Summary

Pfizer ad features a lipstick imprint surrounding a prescription fluconazole tablet and the headline: "Hate the yeast infection. Love the treatment." Ad copy states "oral Diflucan offers women something totally different: a prescription vaginal yeast infection treatment with no mess, just proven success. Simply take an oral tablet and you get a treatment that's as effective as seven days of Monistat 7 or Gyne-Lotrimin (69% and 72% clinical cure rates, respectively)." The ad ends with the tag line: "Kiss your creams goodbye." The ad appeared in a Jan. 11 special issue of Time magazine. The company has not decided whether it will use the ad in other publications. Pfizer was the sole advertiser in the issue of Time, which covered the "future of medicine"
