This article was originally published in The Tan Sheet

Executive Summary

Sunscreen products with SPFs over 30 "provide greater UVA absorption" than products with lower sun protection factors, according to new data from Schering-Plough. "While there is minimal difference between the UVA protection provided by SPF 15 and SPF 30 formulations, there is a significant increase in the UVA protection provided by the SPF 45 when compared to the SPF 30 formula," the company asserts in Jan. 4 comments to FDA.
