Executive Summary
Nov. 11 Journal of the American Medical Association is devoted to research in alternative medicine and will include as its lead a follow-up study by David Eisenberg, MD, Beth Israel/Deaconess Medical Center called "Trends in Alternative Medicine Use in the U.S. 1990-1997." Eisenberg's original landmark study, published in the New England Journal of Medicine in 1993, showed approximately one-third of Americans were using some form of unconventional medicine and about 3%, herbal products.
