Executive Summary
NUTRAMAX COUGH/COLD SALES UP 3% IN THE YEAR but down "nearly a third versus the same period last year," the private labeler said July 27, reporting results for the fiscal third quarter ended July 4. The year-to-year decline in cough/cold product sales "is due in part to the mild cough/cold season last year, which resulted in larger than planned inventories for a number of customers at the close of the season," Gloucester, Mass.- based NutraMax said. To rebuild customer goodwill after a 1996 problem with unshipped orders, NutraMax instituted an off-season dating program in April that allowed the purchase of product as early as June 30 without payment until October.
