TOPICAL INTRAVAGINAL MICROBICIDE DEVELOPMENT GRANT FROM NIAID is open for researcher applications, according to a request for applications from the National Institute of Allergy & Infectious Diseases Sexually Transmitted Diseases Branch. The objective of the research program "is to develop products that are safe and effective in preventing and controlling sexually transmitted infection. Of interest are all products that prevent infection whether or not they also have the capacity to prevent pregnancy," the RFA states. The goal of the program is to develop topical microbicides "with activity against a combination of pathogens, including viral, bacterial and protozoan," the RFA notes.
