CANADA VITAMIN C FOR SMOKERS RECOMMENDATION SUPPORTED in proposed guidelines broadening the permitted claims for vitamin and mineral supplements issued by Health Canada's Therapeutic Products Programme Jan. 22. TPP is proposing that manufacturers be allowed to use the statement "Heavy smokers should increase their vitamin C intake up to 50% more than the average Recommended Nutrient Intake" in vitamin C-containing dietary supplement labeling and advertising. The average RNI is greater than 45 mg/day for women and greater than 60 mg/day for men.
