Executive Summary
ANALGESIC/ALCOHOL WARNING ACTIVE INGREDIENT NAME REFERENCE ONLY, "i.e., acetaminophen, aspirin, ibuprofen, etc.," is "appropriate and necessary," whereas using a product's brand name is not, Warner-Lambert asserts in Jan. 27 comments to FDA on its proposed alcohol interaction warning for OTC analgesics. The company, which markets 19 cough/cold, allergy and sinus products containing acetaminophen, also suggests substituting a more general warning for the organ-specific warnings proposed by the agency in its Nov. 14 rulemaking notice ("The Tan Sheet" Nov. 17, 1997, p. 2).
