DIETARY SUPPLEMENT GMPs UNDER DEVELOPMENT AT NNFA, National Nutritional Foods Association Executive Director Michael Ford said at the NutraPack '98 supplement packaging conference in Anaheim, Calif. Jan. 21-22. The standards may be ready by the end of the year, with manufacturing facilities inspections possible in 1999. The trade association is creating its own Good Manufacturing Practices for dietary supplement products as an adjunct to anticipated regulations from FDA. In February 1997, FDA published an advance notice of proposed rulemaking on dietary supplement GMPs ("The Tan Sheet" Feb. 10, 1997, pp. 2-5).
