This article was originally published in The Tan Sheet

Executive Summary

SUPPLEMENT "NUTRITIONAL" CLAIMS TO REDUCE RISK OF DISEASE SUGGESTED as a viable alternative to claims that dietary supplements cure, prevent, treat or mitigate disease under the Dietary Supplement Health & Education Act, D.C. attorney Stephen McNamara said at the NutraPack '98 conference in Anaheim, Calif. Jan. 21-22. This "nutritional" strategy could be applied to claims such as "Gingko biloba nutritionally supports normal blood flow to the brain," McNamara suggested, or other carefully-worded statements claiming to reduce the risk of disease.
