Executive Summary
LEGAL STATUS COULD BE "RECOMMENDATION" IN MUTUAL RECOGNITION procedure for new medicinal products in Europe, AESGP Scientific and Regulatory Affairs Executive Jean-Francois Dechamp suggested at a conference on the European OTC industry in Amsterdam Sept. 29. The European Proprietary Medicines Manufacturers Association (AESGP) has proposed informally that the reference member state "communicate," in a non-binding fashion, the legal status (prescription only, pharmacy sale or general sale) of a medicinal product to concerned member states through the European mutual recognition process.
