FTC STAFF SUPPORTS "FLEXIBLE" APPROACH TO STRUCTURE/FUNCTION CLAIM SUBSTANTIATION evaluation by FDA in Aug. 14 comments to the President's Commission on Dietary Supplement Labels. The comments note that in recent draft recommendations, the commission "indicates that the evidence needed to substantiate statements of nutritional support will vary depending on a number of factors." The Federal Trade Commission Consumer Protection Advertising Practices Division staff "supports the report's proposed flexible approach to evaluating substantiation."
