Executive Summary
POISON CONTROL CENTERS REINSERTION IN OTC LABELING PROPOSAL recommended by Cage Johnson, MD, University of Southern California, at FDA's Nonprescription Drugs Advisory Committee's July 14 meeting in Bethesda, Md. "I would strongly support the inclusion of `Poison Control Center' as a source of assistance" on OTC labels "rather than the somewhat nebulous `get medical help'" message suggested in the agency's Feb. 27 proposed rule on label reform, Johnson said ("The Tan Sheet" March 3, pp. 1-9). The poison center is "the source of the most topical, most accurate information in cases of accidental overdose," he maintained.
