VITAMIN B12 100 MCG DOSE TO OFFSET FOLATE "MASKING" EFFECT suggested by John Lindenbaum, MD, Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, at a meeting of the Institute of Medicine's Food & Nutrition Board Panel on Folate and Other B Vitamins in Washington, D.C. March 3-4. "I think probably a dose of 100 mcg of cobalamin [B12] will protect virtually everybody out there with a cobalamin deficiency," he said, adding that the amount needed "may be even lower."
