OraSure oral HIV test good candidate for at-home use, researchers say.

ORASURE HIV TEST MAY BE "WELL SUITED" FOR HOME COLLECTION OF DATA, Dana Gallo, California State Department of Health Services, and Epitope researchers et al. conclude in a study on the accuracy of the oral HIV test. The study, "Evaluation of a System Using Oral Mucosal Transudate [OMT] for HIV-1 Antibody Screening and Confirmatory Testing," was published in the Jan. 15 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association. The new method of collecting a test specimen from the mouth "may prove to be well suited for a home collection product at some time in the future," Gallo et al. say.
