Presenting the findings of the ad hoc group at the Oct. 25 meeting of the Commission on Dietary Supplement Labels in Washington, D.C., Shiriki Kumanyika, PhD, University of Illinois at Chicago, said the "claims that have been submitted to FDA so far in the postmarketing notification process were generally not health claims, if you define a health claim as one that mentions a disease or disorder or ties a nutrient to a disease or disorder."
