Avobenzone-containing sunscreen UVA testing "unnecessary" -- CTFA to FDA.

This article was originally published in The Tan Sheet

Executive Summary

AVOBENZONE-CONTAINING SUNSCREEN UVA TESTING "UNNECESSARY," CTFA argues, for proven combination formulations. The Cosmetic, Toiletry and Fragrance Association, in Oct. 10 comments responding to FDA's proposal to amend the 1993 sunscreen tentative final monograph, maintains that UVA testing is appropriate for "finished formulations containing combinations of ingredients for which data is not already available." However, "UVA testing of all finished product formulations is unnecessary."
