GLAXO-FUNDED STUDY SHOWING FREQUENT, LONG-TERM OTC ANTACID USE MAY MASK serious medical conditions was presented at a May 20 conference sponsored by Digestive Disease Week. Researchers Malcolm Robinson, MD, University of Oklahoma, et al. reported findings on 155 subjects who had used antacids to self-treat heartburn "for an extended period of time" and had received no medical intervention or prescription medication related to the condition.
