Pfizer: Acquires Cortizone and Hemorid brands from Thompson Medical for an undisclosed price, the firm announced on March 1. Pfizer Exec VP Henry McKinnell, PhD, noted that, following the acquisition of Bain de Soleil sunscreens, the Cortizone itching treatment and Hemorid women's hemorrhoidal preparation brands "will significantly strengthen Pfizer Consumer Health Care's growing presence in therapeutic skin care and women's health care." Sold only in the U.S., Cortizone comes in a number of formulations including Cortizone-5, Cortizone-10 and Cortizone for Kids, and Hemorid is available as a cream, suppositories, ointment and personal cleansing lotion.
