Executive Summary
SOY POLYSACCHARIDE WILL NOT BE INCLUDED IN OTC LAXATIVE FINAL MONOGRAPH, FDA told Ralston Purina subsidiary Protein Technologies International in a Nov. 14 letter. FDA said the company's data are "inadequate" to support Category I status for the ingredient. The letter was in response to a 1985 petition requesting inclusion of soy polysaccharide as a bulk-forming laxative ingredient in the OTC laxative final monograph.
