GAO DOWNSIZING BY AT LEAST 25% AMONG RECOMMENDATIONS OF SENATE REFORM GROUP led by Sen. Pete Domenici (R-N.M.). In addition to reductions at the General Accounting Office, the reform group recommends changing the permanent authorizations of GAO, the Congressional Budget Office, the Congressional Research Service and the Government Printing Office to eight-year authorizations to more closely monitor their utility.
