Executive Summary
NCI INTRAMURAL CANCER PREVENTION AND NUTRITION RESEARCH CENTER is suggested for the second year in a row by the National Cancer Institute in its fiscal 1996 "bypass" budget, released by the National Institutes of Health on Sept. 21. The bypass budget, which represents what NCI believes is ideal funding for its activities, allocates $100 mil. for the establishment of a "dedicated facility to conduct the full range of cancer prevention and nutrition research, from basic biology to the development of applications and their validation in population studies." Last year, NCI also proposed funding a $100 mil. cancer and nutrition research center ("The Tan Sheet" Sept. 27, 1993, p. 10).
