Executive Summary
FNB COMMITTEE REVIEW OF RDAs HAMPERED BY LACK OF FUNDING, Michael Hambidge, MD, University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, pointed out Sept. 20 at the Council for Responsible Nutrition's annual conference in Dana Point, Calif. Hambidge, a member of the Institute of Medicine's Food & Nutrition Board, noted that an RDA committee to revise the 1989 Recommended Dietary Allowances has not yet been formed or funded. Therefore, FNB "cannot start work now, in the future or in the far future unless one or more [government] organizations decide that they have an interest in supporting further revision of the Recommended Dietary Allowances."
