Executive Summary

Shutting down four manufacturing facilities in Baltimore; Quincy, Mass.; San Francisco and Pointe Claire, Quebec over the next 18 months and plans to close certain production lines at another six plants. The 10 facilities are the first to be targeted under a restructuring plan announced in July ("The Tan Sheet" July 19, 1993, p. 7). Approximately 1,800 employees will be affected by the closings. The Pointe Claire plant, set to close by January 1995, is the only one of the four plants that makes H&BA; a Hamilton, Ontario plant will quit producing H&BAs by July 1995 but will continue making other products...
