U.K. Rx-to-OTC switch cycle

This article was originally published in The Tan Sheet

Executive Summary

U.K. Secretary of State for Health Virginia Bottomley recently announced that the U.K. will expedite the switch process by establishing a July-to-June schedule parallel to the January-to-December schedule that already exists in that country. The proposal will allow companies to file switch applications in either January or July and expect a decision within 12 months. Bottomley also has asked the U.K.'s Medicines Control Board to shorten the evaluation period.
