Executive Summary
Deputy Director Gerald Meyer assumes the post of CDER interim director on Nov. 1; former Director Carl Peck's last official day as director was Oct. 29. Peck retired from FDA to join Leiden University in The Netherlands as a clinical drug research professor ("The Tan Sheet" May 24, p. 9). Meyer will retire from the agency in January. Candidates for permanent director of CDER are under consideration by Commissioner David Kessler and Deputy Commissioner for Operations Jane Henney.
