Executive Summary
Has been available in Germany for the treatment of cold sores since July 1992 under a marketing agreement between Burroughs Wellcome and Hoechst ("The Tan Sheet" March 8, p. 8). The 5% acyclovir OTC dose in Germany is the same topical dose available as a prescription in the U.S. Zovirax is also marketed over-the- counter in New Zealand, Finland and South Africa, and has been approved for OTC use in Denmark, where it has not yet been launched.
