Executive Summary
McKesson will distribute and supply pharmaceuticals, H&BAs and general merchandise to 35 Thrift retail drug stores in Kansas, Missouri, Mississippi and Oklahoma. McKesson Drug will provide pharmaceuticals and OTCs while McKesson Service Merchandising will supply H&BAs and general merchandise. McKesson already has a prime vendor relationship with Thrift for its warehouse pharmaceutical business and provides "secondary service to the majority" of Thrift's other stores. The new pact also includes an electronic data interchange link between the two firms through which "virtually all ordering and billing is done on a computer-to- computer basis," McKesson said. Separately, Thrift realigned its stores into three regions -- Pittsburgh, Harrisburg and Philadelphia -- affecting over 350 of about 500 Thrift Drug stores.
