Senate Republicans pushing prompt pay, AMP rule delay

Executive Summary

A group of 18 Senate Republicans is pushing Finance Committee Ranking Member Chuck Grassley, Iowa, to support requirements for prompt payment to pharmacies by Medicare Part D plans and delayed implementation of Medicaid average manufacturer price rules. Both provisions were in a Medicare package sponsored by Finance Chairman Max Baucus, D-Mont., but not in competing legislation from Grassley. Among the Republicans signing the letter are Health Committee Ranking Member Mike Enzi, Wyo., Sam Brownback, Kan., and Arlen Specter, Pa.. Specter appears to emphasize the AMP issue by noting it next to his signature
