AWP changes not a concern to ABC
Executive Summary
Changes to average wholesale prices stemming from the settlement of a class action case against First Databank and McKesson will have no impact on AmerisourceBergen Corporation's business, the wholesaler said. "We are not involved in that at all," CEO David Yost said during a presentation Dec. 13. The proposed settlement may lead to lower AWPs for the majority of drugs (1"The Pink Sheet" Oct. 16, 2006, p. 13). ABC predicted that the impact to its customers will be limited. "If there are changes to AWP, we would expect the discounts to be adjusted accordingly and so, at the end of the day, the retailer would be adequately compensated," Yost predicted. There may be a 90-day period for the market to adjust to the new structure, but "we expect it to have no lasting impact on our customers"...
