Executive Summary
Subpoena from California Attorney General "seeks information related to pricing to Medi-Cal and Medicaid programs of certain generic oncology drugs sold by Cetus-Ben Venue" joint venture, Chiron says in Nov. 9 SEC filing. The company believes the Sept. 18 subpoena "was issued in connection with a pending but as yet unserved qui tam lawsuit against Chiron and a large number of other pharmaceutical companies." Chiron sold its interest in the Ben Venue joint venture in 1996, the company notes. SmithKline Beecham also has been subpoenaed by the California Attorney General (1"The Pink Sheet" Nov. 6, p. 3)
