Porcine xenotransplantation

FDA's Biological Response Modifiers Advisory Committee xenotransplantation subcommittee will meet June 3 and 4 to discuss scientific data concerning porcine endogenous retrovirus associated with porcine xenotransplantation. FDA will provide an update on xenotransplant policy development. A patient monitoring and screening update and proposals for solid organ xenotransplantation will also be considered. The committee discussed the best screening methods for porcine endogenous retrovirus in December 1997 ("The Pink Sheet" Dec. 22, 1997, T&G-6).
