Executive Summary

Federal Employees Health Benefits Plans that cover prescription drugs would be required to cover FDA-approved methods of contraception under an amendment to the FY 1999 Senate Treasury-Postal Appropriations bill (S 2312) by Sens. Reid (D-Nev.) and Snowe (R-Me.). The amendment, passed by unanimous consent on July 29, has yet to be approved by the full Senate.
